Nutritional solutions to some of the primary challenges facing modern aquaculture will be a common theme throughout a one-day workshop being staged for fish farmers at Stirling University on Tuesday 16 June.

A collaboration between the University and innovative animal health and nutrition company Alltech, the workshop will be led by a scene-setting presentation from the renowned Institute of Aquaculture’s Professor Krishen Rana and Kim Jauncey. This will be followed by a series of specific papers delivered by leaders in the fields of functional nutrition, chemotherapeutics and trace mineral supplementation, whilst best practice in lice control and the emerging threat of gill disease will also be expertly covered.

“This meeting brings together some of the leading researchers and consultants to address a range of pertinent issues currently threatening the sustainability of aquaculture,” comments workshop chairman Terry McArdle of Alltech.

“The programme promises to be of interest to fish farmers as well as wider industry influencers such a specialist veterinarians and nutritionists.”

Speakers at the event will include: Simon Davies and Sebastien Rider, University of Plymouth; Andy Shin, Sterling University; Chris Wallace, Marine Harvest, Scotland; Susie Mitchell, Vet Aqua; John Sweetman, Alltech.
