John Whitaker (GBR) today, Sunday 16th May 2010, won the Alltech Royal Windsor Grand Prix. Riding Uniek, John won the seven horse jump-off by 0.29 of a second, ahead of 2nd place Charlotte Platt (GBR) riding Paulien and 3rd place Dan Moseley (GBR) riding KEPI D’ELLE.

John’s accuracy on three crucial turns enabled him to catch Charlotte’s leading time to claim the £4,100 first prize. “If I do say so myself, I was very pleased with how good my turns were,” said John. “Uniek is a very brave horse and can often over jump fences. I have to keep his confidence up and make sure he doesn’t do that.”

Runner-up Charlotte was particularly pleased with her mare’s performance as she had most of last year off following a leg injury in La Baule. “I gave her more time off than I needed to, to make sure she got back to the level she was competing at before the injury,” said Charlotte. “I’m on the British team for Lisbon and I am aiming for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in October.”
